PANJIM: The Goa Police have suspended a constable for allegedly assaulting an injured home guard at the barrack in Panjim on Thursday.
The 1.16 second video, which has gone viral has left the department red faced on the manner in which the staff treat each other.
In the video, Constable Yuvraj Gawas, attached to the Panjim Traffic Cell, is seen beating the home guard Sagar Mahale with a ‘slipper’. The home guard, with a plastered left hand is then seen running away from the place even as Gawas continues to abuse other staff in the barrack.
Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the constable has been suspended based on prima facie evidence in the form of the video. The department has also launched disciplinary enquiry against the constable.
