MARGAO: Even as Margao Town police registered a case against constable Vishnu Naik working as a driver of a police patrol vehicle for rash and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas placed him under suspension.
Last night at around 8.30 Vishnu Naik while driving the police patrol vehicle under the influence of alcohol dashed into another vehicle. When the owner of the damaged vehicle and some people questioned him, Naik reportedly taunted the people to do what they could.
Later, when other police personnel arrived and asked Naik to take the alchometer test, he refused to breathe into the instrument properly and after many trials finally gave the test that showed a reading of 260.
