The constructing of ‘smart road’ under the Smart City Work near St. Inez Church is encountering delays, leading to inconvenience for commuters and residents in Panaji. Despite efforts to accelerate the construction, various factors such as local festivities, encroachments, and community requests have hindered progress.
The construction work of the road stretch from Taj Vivanta junction in St. Inez till St.Inez Church, is currently underway. Sanjit Rodrigues, the Managing Director and CEO of IPSCDL (Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited), reassured the public that despite the setbacks, the project remains a priority. Rodrigues affirmed that the construction would be completed before the commencement of the Holy Week, demonstrating a commitment to timely delivery.
However, the delays have caused significant traffic snarls along Dayanand Bandodkar Road due to the closure of the stretch near St. Inez Road. Commuters and residents in Panaji are grappling with prolonged traffic congestion, impacting daily routines and causing frustration.
The closure of the road has prompted commuters to seek alternative routes, exacerbating congestion on surrounding roads and inconveniencing residents. The situation has raised concerns among local authorities and residents, highlighting the urgency of completing the construction promptly.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held review meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of the Smart City work. Joined by local MLA Babush Monserrate, Managing Director and CEO of IPSCDL,Sanjit Rodrigues and other concerned officers, CM Sawant expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts and reaffirmed commitment to meeting completion deadlines.
