PANJIM: The Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways has decided to appoint a consultant to supervise construction of the 640-long, eight-lane cable-stayed second bridge across the Zuari river.
The Ministry has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the consultancy services. According to the RFP, the consultancy firm has to supervise the company constructing the bridge which has to be completed within 36 months from the date of the contract being awarded and then has to handle its maintenance for a period of 96 months post construction.
“The Ministry is engaged in the development of National Highways and as part of this endeavour, it has been decided to undertake consultancy services for Authority’s Engineer for supervision of civil construction works for construction of bridge including approaches across river Zuari on NH-17/NH-66 on Panjim-Mangalore section in the state of Goa,” the RFP document reads.
The estimated cost of the consultancy work is around Rs 676 crore.
