PANJIM: Owing to the slide in all-India ranking in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), which has brought much embarrassment to the State, the government has now taken up the mantle to work on improving Goa’s position. The State slipped down from 19th rank to 24th recently.
The Department of Industries Trade and Commerce, DolT through Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) and Investment Promotion Board (IPB) will hold consultations with various departments for appraising the implementation status of the action points of the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) for improving the State’s ranking in the BRAP 2020 exercise.
IPB has hired consultants from Ernst & Young to assist the State in improving its ranking. There are 300-odd action points in the BRAP 2020 exercise which will be judged for the EoDB rankings.
The consultations with Department of Labour and Labour Welfare Board, Factories and Boilers, Pollution Control Board, Legal Metrology GIDC, Fire and Emergency Services, PWD (water and road), TCP and Forest will he held on September 28, 2020.
The consultations with Departments of Municipal Administration, Police, Panchayat, Tourism, District Collector, Traffic Registration and Sub Registrar,
Finance, Revenue and DSLR will be held on September 29, while the Departments of Electricity and Electrical Inspectorate, Excise, Commercial Tax, WRD and Central Ground Water Health, Transport, Education,
Entertainment Society of Goa, Agriculture, Geology and Mines, Chief
Controller Explosives, Civil Supplies and National and State Highway Authority will be on September 30. All Heads of Departments will attend the above consultations with requisite data about their EoDB action points.
