Container truck overturns on dangerous stretch of Farmagudi-Dhavali bypass

Calls for road improvement intensify as locals highlight persistent safety hazards

PONDA: A container truck fell on its side on the Farmagudi- Dhavali bypass early Friday morning between to 2 am to 3 am. Luckily the driver escaped unhurt.

The truck driver stated that he was proceeding from Kundaim towards Bangalore with a load of toothpaste boxes cargo and while proceeding from the flyover he lost control over vehicle after the front glass fell on him as the vehicle encountered the speed breakers. As a result he lost visibility and control of the truck which then fell on its side after hitting the road divider. The truck suffered major damage.  

The Bandora locals over the past many years have been demanding improvement of this black spot of the four lane road, since many accidents occur at this spot. In the past, a crane driver lost his life after the crane fell from the flyover. Locals said so far seven vehicles have fallen on their side on this slope, after inauguration of the four lane road few years ago. 

The locals said every time vehicle owners suffer major losses due to accidents which are a result of poor road engineering and called for immediate rectification of the black spot to avoid further accidents.
