VASCO: Stating that it is his personal choice to contest the upcoming Assembly elections, BJP Goa president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Thursday said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had no right to make a statement whether he should fight the polls or not.
“NCP should understand that BJP is strong in almost all the constituencies and it can be seen by the response to the saffron party’s tour in the constituency by checking the ground reality,” he said.
It may be recalled that NCP Goa youth leader Preetam Naik on Wednesday while condemning the statements of BJP State president had said Tanavade should actually contest from one constituency and get elected.
Naik had said, “Before making any loose comments against any leader one must not forget his past achievements. D’Souza was two-time MLA and a Revenue Minister and had also been elected as a councillor in the past.”
Tanavade also pointed out that he had not expected a senior politician to oppose National Flag hoisting at St Jacinto Island.
The locals led by NCP Goa chief Jose Philip D’Souza had accused the Navy and government authorities of plotting to take over the island terrain.
Meanwhile, several BJP volunteers, women, youth and men accorded a grand welcome to Tanavade along with Urban Development Minister Milind Naik who interacted with BJP supporters and pledged to make BJP victorious in the upcoming assembly elections.
