Continuous rainfall results in flooding across Goa

Monsoon has been fairly active over the parts of Goa for the last few days. Over the last 24 hours, intense spells of rains have battered Goa which led to severe waterlogging in several parts of the state. Now, the latest forecast has highlighted that the incessant rainfall conditions are likely to continue over the region for at least the next few days, starting today, July 13.

On Tuesday morning, the Patto area in the capital city was flooded, commuters found it difficult to commute, water logging and gutters over flowing was reported. Even interior parts of Panjim and Miramar witnessed a similar situation. Many other parts in Old Goa, Sanguem, Calangute, Mapusa, Guirim and more witnessed a similar situation.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the wet weather conditions are triggered by the formation of two low-pressure areas: one over the Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast and another system over south Gujarat and the adjoining northeast Arabian Sea. Subsequently, an east-west shear zone runs across parts of Central India.
