According to a protestor, Bharat Arkas, total 27 TA posts were filled purely on contract basis in PWD in August 2013.

“It has been almost eight-and-a-half years we are serving for PWD. Since then renewal of posts were done smoothly. PWD instead of regularising the existing staff has taken the fresh TA posts.  We had submitted the memorandum to the Chief Minister as well PWD Minister regarding absorption of existing staff on regular basis but no action was taken.  Contract posts which otherwise used to get renewed for a year are now renewed only for 3 months. Our future is at stake,” said Bharat

“We condemn the injustice done to us. We will submit a fresh memorandum again to the CM and the agitation will continue unless our demand is met, he said.

It is pertinent to note that that a war of words recently broke between PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and Panjim MLA Babush Monserrate wherein the latter has accused the former of demanding a sum of Rs 35 lakh as bribe for each PWD post, terming it a PWD job scam.
