MAPUSA: The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has taken stern action against Ramesh Pawar, a contractor for dumping waste on the service road at Kamarkhajan and imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 against him for polluting the environment.
It was the locals who initially detained the truck for dumping garbage at Kamarkhajan and later intimated the MMC and police about the incident.
MMC officials along with the police penalised the contractor for illegally dumping garbage in the vicinity.
