MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to the contractor who was awarded the work of construction of a drain and footpath near Calmar Complex, opposite Raviraj Hotel, at Calcondem in ward number 16, within the jurisdiction of MMC.
Incidentally, the work of construction of a drain was proposed at a site where a nullah already exists, and the work was estimated at Rs 11,03,284.
The Shadow Council for Margao had lodged a complaint against this fraudulent tender and so also for the unauthorised demolition of an existing footpath which was in a pretty good condition. The SCM had also demanded an inquiry into the disappearance of the RCC slabs and kerb stones of the footpath that had been illegally demolished.
