PONDA: A convention of ‘Devout Hindu Advocates’ has decided to raise the issue of ‘illegal’ arrest of Adv Sanjiv Punalekar in the murder case of rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar before various Bar Councils.
Maintaining that Adv Punalekar was arrested on the ‘false’ claim of Sharad Kalaskar that Adv Punalekar told him to destroy the gun used in the murder of Dr Dabholkar, the convention resolved to protest the “unjust” arrest by writing to the Prime Minister office, CBI and Chief Justice of India.
The convention lamented that not every killing raises the same kind of uproar among the public saying, “There is huge uproar over the killings of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Comrade Govind Pansare, M M Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh. However, nobody speaks about the killings of more than 12,000 innocent citizens by the Naxals.”
The convention was confident that the “truth will come out ultimately.” On the occasion, several advocates narrated their experiences of working to protect the nation and dharma and eliminate the evil practices in society.
