PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved the increase in conversion fees, a decision that comes following Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s 2020-21 Budget speech proposing hike in fees under the Land Revenue Code.

The 10 per cent hike covers residential, commercial and the industries. The CM, in his Budget speech for the year 2020-21 had proposed increasing the conversion fees under the Land Revenue Code which were last revised in 2016. He had also proposed to rationalise the categories of land on which conversion fees would be charged.

Accordingly, the Revenue Department moved a proposal on these two aspects.

The Law Dept approved the proposal and through a notification further informed the new categories of land use shall be included by carrying out amendment to Sec 32 of the Land Revenue Code.
