Coop Credit Society members urge shareholders to rely on RCS audit report for BoD poll

PONDA: The Founder Members of Ponda Urban Cooperative Credit Society, including Chief promoter, Adv Ramkrishna Naik along with other members addressing to media today, cautioned the shareholders not to fall prey to false financial claims of society made by some aspirants with vested interests and instead urged them to rely on Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) official audit report while taking part for the Board of Directors election scheduled on November 29 this month.

He said the shareholders need to elect honest candidate on BoDs to save their own deposits. He said the ARCS has recently dissolved the BoDs of Ponda Urban Cooperative Credit Society for mismanagement and also disqualified them forever for contesting BoDs elections.

“But despite this fact, few directors who are disqualified forever, want to retain control over society and as they are disqualified and banned to take part, they had fielded candidates of their choice, including close relatives, hoping that their panel would get elected and they would gain control over society,” Adv Naik said.

For this, they are meeting shareholders, asking to vote for them by handing over leaflets giving rosy picture of the Society’s financial health, which are false and accounts report made for influencing voters.

Adv Ramkrishna Naik further said that the auditor’s report had clearly pointed out that serious mismanagement has taken place in running affairs of the Society and therefore in order to protect their money invested in the Society, the shareholders should rely on the RCS audit report and elect better person on Board.
