PANJIM: The parents of Siddhant Raul, who was allegedly assaulted by DySP (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque and his driver will meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday to demand the immediate suspension of the officers for their highhandedness.
Since the family of Siddhant Raul, whose father is a leading photojournalist, is from neighbouring Bicholim they called on a close family member of the CM, to request his intervention.
Siddhant’s father Tulshidas Raul also informed that Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye has assured him that he will raise the matter in the Goa Assembly during Zero Hour on Monday.
The incident had occurred at Porvorim on July 12 when, according to a written victim’s complaint prepared but not inwarded, DySP Albuquerque stopped his vehicle and assaulted Siddhant.
He said that he crossed the red signal. The victim had also charged that the police officer threatened him from filing a police complaint. Siddhant has now submitted a written complaint to Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, seeking justice.
On the other hand, DySP Albuquerque has strongly denied that he had assaulted Siddhant and said that he had only cautioned for breaking the signal.
