Cop in the dock for forging SSC certificate to secure job

PANJIM: The Panjim police on Saturday registered an FIR against Shamba Pednekar, a former head constable, for allegedly submitting ‘forged’ education qualification certificate to secure the job in the police department nearly 26 years ago.   

According to the police, Pednekar a resident of Tuem, Pernem prepared the forged SSCE passing certificate, duly signed by the head of institution of Shri Shanta Vidyalaya, Sodiem-Siolim, and SSCE mark sheet for the March 1996, having possessed 69 per cent marks in SSC examination for the March, 1996, and produced the same as genuine before the recruitment committee at Police Head Quarters, Panjim during the recruitment procedure of police constable in the year 1996. 

He reportedly joined service in 1997 and was later promoted to the position of head constable. Upon receiving a complaint, an inquiry was initiated against Pednekar and it was found that he allegedly forged the documents to secure the job as a police constable in the department. Subsequently, he was dismissed from service.  In this connection an offence has been registered by the Panaji police under Sections 468, 471 and 420 of IPC against the accused person.
