The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when police constable Abhay Naik attached as a police security officer to MP Narendra Sawaikar was cleaning his rifle.
“The bullet went off accidentally hitting his hand. He was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital,” Police said.
Another constable who was nearby escaped when the bullet passed him by, sources said. Both constables were in the police armoury when the incident occurred.
