Cops arrest history sheeter,seize two motorcycles

PANJIM, AUG 4 Close on the heels of the seizure of four motorcycles, some spares worth over a lakh rupees and arrest of five youth, the Panjim Town Police late Monday night arrested a 30-year-old history sheeter and seized from him two motorcycles worth Rs 45,000.

Close on the heels of the seizure of four motorcycles, some spares worth over a lakh rupees and arrest of five youth, the Panjim Town Police late Monday night arrested a 30-year-old history sheeter and seized from him two motorcycles worth Rs 45,000.
PI Sandesh Chodankar said Andrew Luis Araujo, 30, a history sheeter at the Old Goa Police Station, was arrested from the KTC Bus Stand, here, on receiving a tip off. He has been remanded to three days police custody.
Chodankar said they were trying to ascertain whether Araujo, who hails from Cabessa, Santa Cruz, had any connection with the five youth arrested earlier.
One of the motorcycles, a CBZ (GA-07-B-0728), was found with its parts dismantled which have been recovered. This bike, which belonged to one Ismail Khan of Taleigao, was stolen on July 23, 2009, he stated.
He said the second bike was a Hero Honda Splendour (GA-01-K-3181) stolen from Miramar on July 29 was found intact. It belonged to one Abhay Gajanan Naik from Caranzalem, who had lodged a complaint with us, he added.
The PI indicated that there were many youth from the neighbourhood areas of the city involved in stealing motorcycles to make a fast buck. We have information and are on heir trail, he stated.
