MAPUSA: The war against drugs seems to be heating up in Siolim with the Anjuna police nabbing two more peddlers at the Udo beach at Guddem.
DySP Jivba Dalvi stated that they received a tip off that a drug dealer was on his way to deliver his contraband at the Udo Beach, Siolim.
Accordingly, a posse of police were deployed at the spot in civilian clothes and after keeping surveillance on the area, intercepted a car bearing registration No.AS-04-G-3188 driven by Suraj Pradeep Todi, a native of Bangalore, Karnataka.
After a thorough search, the police recovered 10 LSD papers worth Rs one lakh and the preliminary test carried at the spot on the substance tested positive for LSD.
“Initially we arrested one Suraj Pradeep Todi, (29), presently residing near Jageshwar Temple Dando Siolim who during the interrogation revealed that the LSD was sold to him by one Kalidas @ Kali Naik (50), resident of St Anthony Praise wada, Anjuna.
Accordingly the second accused was arrested on Thursday evening. An offence under section 22(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and section 29 of NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
“Todi had revealed the names of more persons involved in this trade and search operations are on,” SDPO Jivba Dalvi said.
Both the accused persons were produced before the JMFC Court at Mapusa and have been remanded to police custody.
Entire investigation and operation was closely monitored by SP North, Nidhin Valsan, Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Mapusa and raising team consisted of PI Prashal Dessai, PI Anjuna PS, PSI Sahil Warang and constables Mahendra Mandrekar, Rupesh Ajgaonkar, Avir Kalangutkar, Aniket Pednekar and Abhishek Kaskar of Anjuna police station.
