BICHOLIM: A police constable attached to the Valpoi Police station has been arrested + hut in Pilgao-Bicholim.
According to Bicholim Police, the incident occurred at about 9.30 pm, while Beig was asleep in her hut. Police Constable Amjad Karol (37), who resides in the same village, barged into her hut and dragged her out on the road and allegedly assaulted her.
Police further informed that residents rushed to her rescue after hearing Beig’s cry for help. They immediately called the 108 ambulance and informed the police. Following a complaint, police arrested the accused and he was remanded to seven days police custody.
The injured woman was later shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim in a serious condition. PI Rupendra Shetgaonkar is investigating.
