PORVORIM: In a significant enforcement action, the police stations in North Goa district, in collaboration with the Tourist Police Unit (TPU), conducted a special night patrol, resulting in the penalisation of approximately 600 individuals for various offences.
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police (SP), North Goa, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, who was personally present in the field, along with the concerned SDPOs, police station in-charges and their staff carried out continuous night patrolling.
This proactive measure, aimed at increasing safety and enforcing various laws and regulations, yielded the following outcomes: COTPA violations: 179 cases; smoking and spitting offences: 211; illegal touting cases: 7; garbage-related violations: 66; motor vehicles act cases: 149; Section 34 IP Act cases: 24 cases; drinking in public places: 1 case; and littering in public places: 1 case.
The police also carried out 89 tenant verifications across the North Goa district.
