Cops launch hunt for rape accused Lezio Fernandes

PANJIM: The Women’s Police Station, Panjim, has issued a look out notice against Lezio Fernandes who is suspected accused in a case of rape on pretext of marriage.

In the look out notice, the police have said that Lezio Fernandes (32), resident of Agonda, Canacona, is wanted in the case registered at the Women’s Police Station, Panjim, under section 376 and 420 of IPC dated January 25, 2024.

”The anticipatory bail filed by the alleged accused stands rejected and is wanted in the crime,” the police have said and urged the people to inform it or the police control room if there is any information regarding the accused.

The Women’s Police Station, Panjim, had registered a case against Lezio Fernandes, currently residing at Murida-Fatorda on the charge of allegedly raping a woman from Tiswadi taluka.

The victim in her complaint had stated that the accused on the pretext of marrying allegedly sexually assaulted her on several occasions from January 8 to 19 and also threatened to make her obscene photographs viral.

   According to the police, the accused hails from Agonda, Canacona and was presently residing at Murida-Fatorda.
