MARGAO: Margao Town Police on Wednesday filed their reply opposing the anticipatory bail application moved by Adv Anju Amonkar alias Sapna Govekar stating that her custody is required to investigate the matter thoroughly as she is allegedly in possession of a forged document.
The police pointed out that they have registered a case following a complaint lodged by one Vidhyanand Amonkar, a resident of Pedda, that Adv Anju had prepared a Power of Attorney by forging his signature, his wife’s and others.
Later, Adv Anju used the forged Power of Attorney to execute a Deed of Relinquishment before the Sub-Registrar of Salcete and though the police have written to the sub-registrar the reply is still awaited.
The police pointed out that they had written to Adv Anju to produce the forged Power of Attorney, but instead of producing it she had moved an anticipatory bail application indicating that the original power of attorney is in her possession.
The police further pointed outAnju is required to be taken into custody to get the original Power of Attorney.
Hence the police urged the court not to grant Adv Anju the anticipatory bail.
