MARGAO, JULY 31
The Colva police are investigating into alleged illegal tapping of power at the Dando grounds, Benaulim during the football tournaments.
This follows a complaint received from the Benaulim Junior Engineer, Michael Moraes stating that unknown persons were illegally tapping electricity from an electric pole located near the Dando grounds.
The department has suspected that the beneficiaries of the alleged illegal tapping are the organizers of the football tournaments.
While asking the Colva police to investigate into the complaint, the Benaulim Junior Engineer has asked the police to keep the department informed about the progress in the case.
In this connection, the Colva police have registered a case of theft under Section 379 of the IPC against unknown miscreants. An offence has also been registered under Section 39 of the Electricity Act for theft of energy.
The police are now contemplating to obtain details from the Goa Football Association to ascertain the people who are organising the football tournaments.
