PANJIM: In a desperate attempt to trace former minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco, absconding for nearly a month, the Colva police are now visiting Delhi hotels to check if he is registered there.
A police team led by PI Uttam Raut Desai left for Delhi, for the second time, on Thursday to trace Mickky’s whereabouts after the Margao JMFC extended the arrest warrant against him by seven days, on April 28.
“The team has a list of hotel names, where he might be staying at present or probably has stayed. They will verify the details on meeting the managements of each of the identified hotels,” Inspector General of Police, Sunil Garg told Herald.
Meanwhile, Colva police is likely to quiz Mickky’s wife Viola Pacheco even as the JMFC issued her a notice to produce the absconding politician before it. “Since she has also come under the scanner of the court, we may summon her for questioning,” a senior Colva police official disclosed.
The Nuvem legislator has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in the Junior Electricity Engineer Kapil Natekar assault case. He has been absconding soon after the Supreme Court dismissed the petition challenging the lower court’s order against him in March. In the meantime, he had also filed a revision plea before the SC.
