Cops seek Vigilance probe into Parab’s assets

PANJIM: Porvorim Police on Wednesday wrote to the Directorate of Vigilance to initiate an inquiry into the assets of Pravin Parab who was held on Saturday while trafficking girls. Parab, a government servant, confessed that he is in the trafficking trade for the last four years.

PANJIM: Porvorim Police on Wednesday wrote to the Directorate of Vigilance to initiate an inquiry into the assets of Pravin Parab who was held on Saturday while trafficking girls. Parab, a government servant, confessed that he is in the trafficking trade for the last four years. 
“We have written to the Directorate of Vigilance to initiate an inquiry into Parab’s assets as in the raids we found documents in the apartment where both the accused were living. We have also asked Income Tax department to furnish details of Parab and his associate,” Porvorim Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi said.
On Saturday, Parab, attached to the Water Resources Department and his lady partner Sufiya Khan, originally from Mumbai and currently residing with the accused in Pernem, were arrested under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
“He has confessed that he has been in the business of trafficking girls for the last four years. We are yet to interrogate him more,” PI Dalvi said. A police team will be sent to Mumbai for a background check of Khan, he added.
