MARGAO: Savera NGO, in a complaint to the Director General of Police, has brought to his notice the rise in number of cases of children begging on the roads in the State.
Children, mostly from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, are often found begging on the streets. It is sad to see that children, who should have been studying, making money this way. We have strong suspicion that these children are sold to gangs who run the begging racket in the State, Convenor of Savera Tara Kerkar said.
The NGO has urged the DGP to initiate a probe by forming special investigation team, as the are not from Goa and are procured from outside.
