PANJIM: The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Goa on Thursday has once again exposed the potholed roads in the State.
In a letter to the PWD principal chief engineer, the SP (Traffic) Shekhar Prabhudessai stated that there are a number of potholes, trenches, and uneven surfaces at some of the stretches of the National Highway and other roads which will be used by the VVIPs visiting Goa. The Prime Minister will be also traveling to various locations.
It may be recalled that last year following widespread criticism over the potholed roads, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had declared that all roads would be repaired and would be pothole-free from November 1, 2021.
But the letter by the Traffic Police to the PWD has only endorsed that the
National Highways still have potholes.
The Public Works Department (PWD) took up the work of filling potholes at a fast pace. It’s known to every one how the pace of work changes rapidly for VVIPs.
The stretches of the National Highway which require repairs are from INS Hansa Main Gate, Airport junction, Chicalim Circle, Chicalim panchayat, Cortalim Circle, Agacaim junction, Goa Velha bypass, Siridao bridge, GMC Bambolim, Merces Circle, Atal Setu, O’Coqueiro junction, Guirim, Green Park Hotel and Bodginee, Mapusa.
The other stretches of the road are INS Hansa Main Gate, Birla Titan junction, IDC Verna, Missing Link road, Borim toll naka, Borim Shiroda Circle, Baithakhol Circle, Dhavli Circle, GVM Circle, Farmagudi, Banastarim bridge, Kadamba bypass road, Chimbel junction, Merces junction, Atal Sethu. O’Coqueiro junction, Saligao junction, Canca-Parra, Bodginee and Gandhi Circle, Mapusa.
