Coronavirus leads to delay of Zuari Bridge construction work

VASCO: The coronavirus pandemic and its related restrictions of movements to other nations especially to China have had an adverse affect on the ongoing new Zuari bridge  work.

The materials, monitoring system and experts which were supposed to come to Goa are not arriving on schedule, due to the recent decision taken by the Centre regarding visa cancellations and travel ban from affected countries. Atul Joshi, Deputy Director of Dilip Buildcon Pvt Ltd explained, “The important material which is needed for the ongoing Zuari bridge project is coming from China. Installing pipes for cabling in the superstructure of the bridge, monitoring system, bearings all of it has to come from China, but because of the coronavirus outbreak, it won’t be coming in at this point.”

Pointing out that this is a crucial juncture as the experts and the material were required to go ahead with their future plans as per the schedule. He said that until there is more clarity regarding the new schedule, they cannot say how much longer it will take.  He confirmed though that it will affect the speed of the work. He further added that along with the material and experts including engineers that were supposed to come from China, experts from France are not able to come as well.
