PANJIM: Alleging that the corporates transporting coal through Goa are the ones wanting diversion of Mhadei waters, activist at the Federation of Rainbow Warriors, Abhijeet Prabudesai said the Karnataka government has planned a 300-km long steel corridor located around Hospet Bellary area.
Addressing the Save Mhadei Save Goa meeting in Panjim, Prabudesai said, “The corridor will cover districts such as Bagalkot, Gadag, Kopal, Haveri, Raichur and Bellary. Karnataka is lying that Mhadei water is being diverted for farmers. Their official Karnataka government documents prove that these are complete lies.”
He appealed to all Goans to step out and free the government from this (corporate) slavery by keeping aside differences and fighting for Mhadei.
Other speakers pledged their support to fight for the Mhadei cause and called on people to step out, since the consequences of Mhadei water diversion will be huge.
