SANGUEM: Responding quickly to the O Heraldo report published in edition dated January 2, the Electricity Department on Wednesday removed the precariously placed high mast electric pole at Uguem junction in Sanguem.
The said pole had corroded at the bottom and there was every possibility of it collapsing due to heavy wind or if any vehicle had to hit it.
Villagers led by Anthony Colaco had pointed out that the said pole could also damage the transformer if it fell thereby causing more problems for the locals.
The department on Wednesday removed the pole using a crane with assurance to replace it with a new one soon.
