vasco: The Cortalim BJP block president Narayan Naik and Sancoale panch lashed out at Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sankalp Amonkar for his suggestion that Kala Bhavan and Metastrip premises can be utilised for COVID care centres.

Naik questioned if Amonkar had studied the area of Upasnagar and found out if it was populated or not. “Did he take the people of Upasnagar into confidence when he suggested about shifting COVID care centres there? Who gave Amonkar the right to make such suggestions? The elected representatives from Mormugao taluka are capable to tackle the issue,” said Naik, while adding that COVID cases have spiked in Vasco and not in Cortalim

He said the State decided to notify the MPT hospital as a COVID care centre after taking into consideration the medical facilities, infrastructure, work force etc.

He further accused Amonkar of only thinking about how he can play politics over this issue, instead of unitedly fighting against the COVID pandemic. “In such testing times, everyone should come together and support the government,” he added.
