Cortalim meeting ends abruptly as CZMP expert plays truant

VASCO: The special gram sabha of Cortalim, convened on Sunday to get clarification on the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP), ended abruptly as the resource person failed to turn up to explain the CZMP.
The villagers have now decided to convene the special gram sabha afresh to discuss the issue. The villagers have also demanded that the resource person be present to explain the CZMP.
The special gram sabha was called specifically to discuss CZMP and give opportunity to Cortalim villagers to raise any objections and give suggestions. However, no resource person from CRZ authority turned up for the special meeting as requested by Cortalim panchayat to shade light and to explain about the technicality of CZMP.
The villagers demanded to know from the panchs whether the CZMP would affect their houses, businesses and other activities in the Cortalim jurisdiction. To which, the panchas could not provide satisfactory answers. Upset at this, the villagers decided to convene the special gram sabha afresh to discuss the issue.
Cortalim Secretary Sachin Naik informed that a letter was addressed to member secretary CRZ requesting to depute a resource person for special gram sabha, but he have received no reply.
He informed that the panchayat would once again write to CRZ authorities requesting them to depute a resource person for the fresh special gram sabha which would be convened before July 7.
