VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldhana urged South Western Railway to demarcate the boundaries of the land belonging to railways. This exercise will give clarity to the villagers to ascertain the land which belongs to SWR, said Saldhana.
In a press statement she stated that the people of Cortalim are time and again visiting her office with the request to ask the South Western Railway authority to mark the boundaries of the land belonging to SWR.
Saldanha claimed that South Western Railway should promptly detach the land it owns in the said constituency so that locals are aware of their share of leftover land.
“The South Western Railway authority has hesitated to do so till date as it is fully aware that the existing railway track in my constituency is situated on land which does not belong to the Railway, a fact proved by lack of ownership documents and their names not appearing on form I & XIV of the respective villages,” said SAldhana in the statement issued.
“I also call upon the State Government to order the Railway authority to demarcate their land so that the land owners along the SWR alignment are fully aware of the land which belongs to them and the land which is illegally being claimed as owned by the South Western Railway” Saldhana’s press note read.
