The Cortalim Sarpanch Hilario Figuereido disclosed that Saldanha had an appointment with the Minister for Panchayat, Rajendra Arlekar, on May 4 or 6 to discuss the bifurcation of Cortalim Quelossim Panchayat.
As the gram sabha members raised serious concerns over the failure of Saldanha in attending the meeting, Figuereido informed the gathering that the panchayat had written a letter to Saldanha, requesting her to attend the gram sabha on Sunday.
He was hopeful that Saldanha would attend the next gram sabha meeting as requested by the gram sabha members.
Lopinho Xavier, a gram sabha member, charged the panchayat with failure to obtain permissions for the construction of road in ward-2. He also questioned the sarpanch over the provision made for funds for youth development and fire extinguishers in the panchayat building.
Bringing to the notice of the panchayat of burning of dry garbage by some shop keepers outside their shops, Xavier sought action against such shop keepers.
The gram sabha resolved to renovate the existing panchayat hall by fitting it with air condition system.
