Cortalim set for more progress

CORTALIM, JULY 31 With the monsoon at its peak, Goa seems to be passing through a quiet period with all activities near standstill. But that seems not to be the case in Cortalim constituency. Starting August 1, Cortalim constituency will witness a flurry of activities for at least a week to celebrate the 50th birthday of Cortalim MLA and Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho, which falls on August 2.

With the monsoon at its peak, Goa seems to be passing through a quiet period with all activities near standstill.
But that seems not to be the case in Cortalim constituency. Starting August 1, Cortalim constituency will witness a flurry of activities for at least a week to celebrate the 50th birthday of Cortalim MLA and Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho, which falls on August 2.
On August 1, there are at least four major functions lined up. These include laying foundation stone of the retaining wall at Kudov in Sancoale, which is estimated at Rs 35 lakh, commissioning of the second phase of Shantadurga High School, Sancoale, for which an amount of Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned, and laying the foundation stone for the ground of the Blessed Joseph Vaz School, Sancoale, the cost of which is estimated at Rs 20 lakh.
Earlier, the MLA will also inaugurate his new office premises at Upas Nagar near Pale-Sancoale junction.
On his birthday on August 2, the deputy speaker will be available at his Taleigao residence to meet the people. Godinho will also lay foundation stones for various other projects in his constituency and also meet his constituents during the rest of the week at panchayats in the constituency.
