SANGUEM: A meeting which was called to discuss the Cotarlim mishap that took place two days ago and to decide on the soft drink company’s future was attended by Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Desai, deputy collector Milind Velip, Mamletdar Gaurav Gaonkar, DySP Nilesh Rane, panchas Vitthal Gaonkar and Bhavesh Gaonkar along with the locals who were present in the large numbers. However, the company officials did not attend the meeting.
“If something is happening against the welfare of the villagers then I will always side with the locals. If the company wants for the operations to stay on, then they should have attended the meeting and presented their side. If people do not want the company in the village then I am with them,” said Phal Desai during the meeting which was held at Shri Sateri Sabha Mandap, Cotarli.
“The company officials not attending the meeting despite being informed in advance means that they do not take villagers into confidence,” added the MLA.
