CANACONA: Bhiso Kust Gaonkar of Cotigao, folk artiste and artisan of different locally manufactured artefacts, died after a brief illness on Friday.
Gaonkar (70), known for his versatile artistry in folk and artefacts, also visited foreign countries. He passed away at his residence on Friday morning and was cremated in the evening.
One of his sons, Rajesh, is a social activist and former sarpanch of Cotigao.
Meanwhile Alban Gracias (76), a staunch supporter of Konkani movement during the Konkani-Marathi struggle and a leading businessman of Chaudi-Canacona, passed away on Friday morning. His funeral will take place at Chaudi Church on Saturday evening.
