MARGAO: Councillor Dorris Texeira who was a member of the Vishaka Committee, investigating the sexual harassment case against the top official of Margao Municipal Council has resigned from the committee. Proceedings were held on Wednesday in the presence of the other committee members.
Councillor Dorris Texeira remained tight-lipped over her resignation without reasons but said that she is not happy with the proceedings of the Vishaka committee.
Vishaka Committee was constituted with the Former Chairperson of MMC Dr. Babita Angle as presiding head of the committee. On Wednesday the proceedings were held in the presence of Dr. Babita and Goa Municipal Employees Association General Secretary Anil Shirodkar amidst other members.
“I have questioned the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) and objected to his submission for having asked to transfer the case to the Local Complaint Committee (LCC). He is an employee of MMC and the Internal Complaints Committee is incharge of investigation. Why did the DMA sit with our complaint for 3 months?” questioned Anil.
Sources informed that other members of the committee are also set to resign on similar grounds as some have been transferred in the backdrop of the case. As the proceedings of the committee are internal and need to be kept secret, not many are willing to give out the details of the same. However, the investigation is reportedly in the final stage which will be submitted soon.
