MARGAO: Congress Mahila President Pratima Coutinho on Friday presented a complaint by a woman against her relative Vishwas Sawant Dessai, who is a councilor, alleging that he outraged her modesty and demanding immediate action against him.
As the Superintendent of Police was not in his office, Pratima handed over the complaint to his office and regretted that the SP was not present despite having fixed an appointment on Thursday. She said the Curchorem police are not taking any action in the matter because the councilor is reportedly very close to Power Minister Nilesh Cabral.
The woman said that on June 1, the councilor came with some people including his brother and tried to dump stones in her courtyard to prepare an illegal road cutting through her property by demolishing her “Tulsi Vrindavan”.
She said when she resisted the road construction, she was assaulted by the councilor who kicked her on her stomach and private parts and as her son had recorded the assault, he too was assaulted but he was quick to pass the mobile to his sister who ran inside the house.
