VASCO: A counter complaint was filed against Urban Development Minister Milind Naik by Suraj aka Balan Chodankar at Mormugao Police station.
Chodankar has refuted allegation made against him by the minister and his supporters. Supporters of Naik have condemned Chodankar’s alleged manhandling of Naik.
On Thursday, Suraj aka Balan Chodankar accompanied by Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar filed a counter complaint against Naik. Chodankar handed over the complaint application to the Mormugao Police Station.
Later speaking to media, Chodankar said that false allegations have been levelled against him and refuted charges that he manhandled Naik and alleged that the minister spoke rudely to him.
He claimed that the police have not taken any action against those involved in trimming of tree branches without obtaining permissions and questioned whether police are taking action against the person who is trying to protect age old tree?
Condemning the statement of minister, Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar
said the statement of Naik that there is no need for permission to trim tree branches is baseless and as per rule, permission is required from the Forest Department to trim and cut trees.
MMC Councillor Shashikant Parab said, “I have a strong feeling Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar is backing Suraj aka Balan Chodankar in this matter. I condemn the recent attack on Urban Development Minister.
MMC Councillor Murari Bandekar said, “If Balan wanted to know about permission then he should have approached the concerned authorities and followed the standard procedure instead of confronting the minister and termed it as “uncivilised” act. Bandekar said confronting people’s representative is incorrect and claimed that Balan’s charged that Naik abused him are false”.
