Margao: In a turn of events the activists who gathered at the Maina Curtorim Police station to protest against the summons to the activists went on to file criminal complaints against the police officials and chief minister, Environment Minister, businessman Gautam Adani, the Rail Vikas Nigam and several others for false FIR and projects they claimed are of “Genocidal nature” for Goans.
Over 300 protestors signed complaints against the Adani Group, South West Ports Limited, Vedanta, MPT Chariman, the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant, the Environment Minister of Goa, Nilesh Cabral, the General Manager of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, “for their actions against the State, destroying Public Health, destroying the lives and livelihoods of all Goans and threatening the lives of all humans.”
A criminal complaint against the Police Inspector who lodged FIR against the selected six for the Chandor protest was also filed and signed by 100s.
The complaint read, “On behalf of all Goans, especially the 8 to 10 thousand persons present at Chandor for a peaceful protest on 1st & 2nd November night, we are here to file a criminal complaint against the Police Inspector, Shivram Vaingankar, who filed a FIR against selected six persons with false reasons given as unlawful assembly and wrongful restraint, though there were no crimes or violence and the entire event was peaceful. Though there was a crowd of 8000 to 10000 including us and well known elected representatives who protested peacefully at Chandor on 1st-2nd November night, registration of FIRs against persons smacks of bias and misuse of the discretionary powers of the official,” said the complaint.
The complaint requested to lodge this criminal complaint and a FIR against the said police inspector on the grounds stated.
Another criminal complaint regarding alleged ‘Genocidal Crime’ against all Goans, Indians and the entire humanity was also filed.
The complain read, “On behalf of all Goans, we are here to file a criminal complaint against all the persons involved in the coal handling and transportation, coal infrastructure projects and river nationalization. These projects are completely against the interests of all Goans, Indians and the entire humanity, since they threaten the world with deadly global warming, coal pollution and destruction of local economies, communities environment,” said the complainant.
They further claimed that the coal handling is already destroying the health of lakhs of Goans. The coal transportation infrastructure, including double tracking of SWR, Highways NH-4A and 17-B, river dredging and construction of jetties, 3 linear projects through Goan Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Park, etc is allegedly destroying villages, environment and local Goan economies.
“The coal they want to burn will kill all humanity due to global warming. All of this is only for the private profit of three corporations, namely SWPL, Adani Group and Vedanta, who are operating from MPT” the complaint said.
The protestors demanded registering criminal complaints against Adani Group, South West Ports Limited, Vedanta, MPT Chariman, the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, the Environment Minister of Goa, Nilesh Cabral, the General Manager of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, SSahu for their actions against the State, destroying Public Health, destroying the lives and livelihoods of all Goans and threatening the lives of all humans, and request you to kindly lodge FIRs under the relevant sections of IPC, CrPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, as applicable.
