PANJIM: The Crime Branch arrested a couple hailing from Sangli for cheating persons in the name of a fake loaning agency.
The CB police had registered a case on November 19 upon the complaint of PI Nitin Halarnkar, stating that accused Ankush Ramchandra Kadam and his wife Pooja Kadam, both native of Chinchale, Sangli and presently residing in a bungalow at Ponda, with their common intention lured people to invest their money under pretext of offering loan ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 10 crore at the low rate of interest of four per cent.
The couple further charged commission of one per cent on the assured loan amount in advance and after receipt of the commission amount, they would abscond with the money.
