CURCHOREM: A couple from Curchorem had a lucky escape in an accident involving three vehicles at Curchorem-Sanvordem on Thursday evening.
According to Curchorem police, the driver of a car, which was proceeding from Sanvordem-Tisk towards Curchorem, stopped to answer the mobile call, while Sagar Kakodkar (22) along with his fiancee was proceeding towards Sanvordem-Tisk. When Kakodkar reached near the parked car, a speeding car from the opposite direction dashed against the parked car after hitting the couple.
The impact was such that Kakodkar and his fiancée were flung away. People rushed them to the primary health centre from there they were shifted to Hospicio in Margao for medical treatment.
When contacted, the doctor on duty Dr Arya Shirodkar informed that Kakodkar sustained injuries to his head and hand has been fractured, while his fiancée was also referred to Hospicio to examine for blunt chest trauma.
The car driver, Kapil Dev (21) has been booked for rash and negligent driving.
