Court adjourns Sara case to Jan 20

MARGAO, JAN 12 The petition filed by Sara Pacheco against her husband and Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act came up for hearing before Judicial Magisterial First Class, Margao on Monday afternoon.

The petition filed by Sara Pacheco against her husband and Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act came up for hearing before Judicial Magisterial First Class, Margao on Monday afternoon.
Sara was personally present in the court room along with her lawyer, V R Desai and Bailancho Ekvott President Auda Viegas.
Mickky was conspicuous by his absence. But, his lawyer, Adv Srikant Naik drew attention of the Judge D Patkar that his client has not been served the documents by the petitioner till date.
Adv Naik pointed out that he would file his reply only after his client is served the documents by the other party.
After hearing both the lawyers, Judge Patkar later adjourned the case till January 20 afternoon.
Sara declined to comment to waiting newsmen after the adjournment of the case.
Incidentally, a group of plainclothes policemen were seen in and outside the court room when the matter came up for hearing. The policemen left the court premises after the JMFC adjourned the matter to January 20.
When Herald contacted Margao PI Rajendra Prabhudessai, he said the policemen in plainclothes were deployed as a precautionary measure and denied that there was any complaint asking for police protection the court premises.
