Court denies bail to accused in PSI case

The Sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Santosh Naik, charged by the Cuncolim police for the attempt to murder PSI Prasanna Bhagat.
Additional Sessions Judge Desmond D’Costa rejected the bail application of the accused after taking into consideration the nature of offense, the likelihood of the accused absconding and tampering with the witnesses. “The fact remains that after the accused, the accused had disappeared and was in hiding for eight days. This factor goes against the applicant, who has claimed that he be enlarged on bail”, Judge said.
Meanwhile, the same court has rejected the bail application of one Nelito Fortest Gomes, who was arrested by the Colva police for the alleged rape on his maid servant.
The Judge said there is every possibility of the accused tampering with the evidence.
