PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) to consider the eligibility of petitioner Dr Shivaji Shet, if the latter apply for the post of principal of Goa College of Art and if ineligible then to give reasons within eight days.
Dr Shivaji Shet had filed a writ petition stating that he is eligible to be appointed as the principal in terms of the recruitment rules. He submitted that the GPSC had not indicated any reason in its minutes as to why he was not eligible for the post in pursuance of the advertisement dated May 8, 2020.
But during the pendency of the petition, it was brought to the notice of the Court that the GPSC has re-advertised for the post after the State government refused to accept the recommendation of the GPSC to appoint Prajakta Parvatikar by relaxing the recruitment rules that mandatorily required knowledge of Konkani.
