Court grants bail to co-accused in Kamakshi murder caser

PANJIM: The Mapusa Court granted bail to co accused Nirupadi Kadakal, one of the accused in the Kamakshi Uddapnov murder case, on Thursday.

Nirupaddi was arrested by the Porvorim police on the charge that he had allegedly helped Prakash Chunchunwad, the main accused in the case, to dispose of the body of Kamakshi at Amboli Ghat in neighbouring Maharashra.

30-year-old Kamakshi was allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend Fakir alias Prakash Chunchunwad (22) in August this year after he suspected that she was cheating on him.

The Porvorim police had recovered the decomposed body and arrested Fakir and Nirupadi, both residents of Socorro, in connection with the crime.

According to the police, on the fateful night of August 30, Prakash visited Kamakshi’s flat, leading to a quarrel between the two. Prakash allegedly obtained a kitchen knife and relentlessly stabbed Kamakshi until her tragic demise.

After the gruesome act, Prakash is said to have cleaned the bloodstains from the floor and contacted his friend, Nirupadi Kadakal, who arrived at the flat. Together, they placed Kamakshi’s body in Prakash’s car and drove to Amboli Ghat, where they disposed of the body.
