PANJIM: Partial arguments on the quantum of sentence to be awarded to Norman Fernandes, the double murder convict, were heard on Tuesday and the matter then adjourned to Wednesday. The prosecution presented its argument before the North Goa District & Sessions Court urging capital
punishment.
The court had convicted Fernandes last week for killing two members of his family at St Cruz in 2013.
The double murder had sent shockwaves in the village after police zeroed in on him for allegedly stabbing his sister Noreen Fernandes e Vaz and her mother-in-law Aurita Vaz on September 2, 2013 over a property dispute. Noreen’s husband Edgar Vaz was seriously hurt in the attack.
The defence is expected to present its argument on the quantum of sentence on Wednesday.
