Court orders framing of murder charges against Assamese duo

Maina Curtorim police have charge-sheeted Basavraj Kagi, under Section 307 of IPC for making an attempt to kill a 14-year-old student.

MARGAO: The Principal District and Session Judge South Goa  Irshad Agha, on Monday ordered to frame charges against two alleged accused of murdering a 25-year-old youth Khegan Nath, a migrant labourer from Assam.

It may be recalled that Verna Police had managed to track down the accused and arrested them at the Margao Railway station.

Police say that all migrant youths were known to each other and belonged to the same district in Assam. “They had come down to Goa in a search of work and on a fateful day, they all went to Velsao beach for a picnic, got drunk, and entered into a brawl which resulted in the murder of  Khegan Nath.

Meanwhile, the Maina Curtorim police have charge-sheeted  Basavraj Kagi, under Section 307 of IPC for making an attempt to kill a 14-year-old  student. 

The alleged accused had taken the 14-year- old student at Curtorim on his scooter from Margao to a lonely place and attempted to kill the boy by pushing him into the well.

Maina Curtorim police said that they had recorded the statement of the 14-year-old student.
